First grade artists have been reviewing warm colors in Art class. This week we collected leaves, talked about the parts of the leaf, painted and printed them on our artwork.Students also used color knowledge from our last lesson to mix their own orange!

Dia de los Muertos
Today the 3rd & 4th graders created calaveras (skulls) designs with the help of Northview Senior visiting artist Megan C. They learned a little about the Mexican celebration and then were able to illustrate and color their own!

4th grade Positive/Negative project
4th grade Artists have been talking about how
artists use space in their work. They viewed many examples of optical illusions
in which the artist would create space that could be both positive or negative.
As the students created their own artwork, they worked to form organic shapes
to create their own space illusion. We also found an appreciation for looking
at abstract work and finding objects within our organic shapes that began to
create stories! What do you see in our artwork?
