4th grade Inuit Prints
4th graders have been busy learning about Inuit artists and designing their own arctic animals in a similar style. Today we started the printmaking process and made a set of three prints. It was messy but a ton of fun!

Kindergarten Printmaking
Kindergarten students read the book "Fish is Fish" by Leo Lionni and drew their own fish into a foam printing plate. We used blue ink to try the printmaking process, making multiple fish prints. The students are looking forward to next class when they can add their printed fish to the pond habitats that they previously painted.

Fundred Dollar Bill Project
As part of our "Fun" Fridays, a rotating extra day of Art, students work with a method called Visual Thinking Strategies. VTS builds "thinking skills that become habitual and transfer from lesson to
lesson, oral and written language literacy, visual literacy, and
collaborative interactions among peers." -quote from VTS website.
Currently we are investigating contemporary artists, talking about their artwork, and how it might directly effect us. Today we talked about the artist Mel Chin and his Paydirt/Fundred project. We even got a chance to design our own Fundred dollar bills!
Read more about Mel Chin and his project at http://www.fundred.org . You can even download your own here and share them with your family!
